Distracted?
[2/13/16]
A comment on my campaign Facebook page recently asked whether I am distracted from my work as a BOE member. Here is my answer:
Each and every day, I spend time focused and actively involved in tasks or activities directly related to my role and responsibilities as a Board of Education member. That's what it is to be passionate, dedicated, and conscientious. People who know me know my work ethic, enthusiasm, and drive.
Yesterday, I was in Annapolis attending a MABE sponsored Legislative luncheon where I spoke with members of Washington County's delegation and my counterparts from around the state about this session's legislation that will impact the students in Washington County and the entire state of Maryland. This weekend I will be prepping for my Tuesday BOE meetings. The following Tuesday I will be attending a meeting of the Policy Committee, one of the two committees to which I have been assigned. On February 24 and 26, as a member of the Legislative Responsive Team, I will be back in Annapolis offering testimony before two committees on the fuel tax bill put forth by members of the Washington County's delegation at the request of the BOE. Needless to say, I will be spending quite a bit of time in preparation for these responsibilities and commitments.
From this you may be able to see that I am quite busy working on behalf of all of Washington County's students, the community that is Washington County, and our wonderful state, and I am not the least bit distracted.
